Fireworks can look back at a long history going back through the centuries to the old Chinese empire.

The earliest of all stories telling about fireworks is from the 12th century. The people in China used a combination of exploding materials to frighten the demons of mythology and to make a wish for good and healthy life.

The pyrotechnicans in China were deeply respected people and honoured for their skillfull work.

Eventually in the 17th century fireworks were established in Europe and the rest of the world. The making of fireworks became an important job at the courts of the European kings and counts. In In 1749 the composer Händel even created a "Fireworks Music" celebrating an improtant treaty for peace.

Nowadays fireworks cannot be forgotten at any New Years celebration. They are welcoming the New Year and still a bit of superstition is accompanying them. They just should put away everything bad. Fun fair and events, important comemoration days and private parties - everywhere fireworks are making the world colourful. Even competitions in fireworking are held today. The major event in the world, the World Pyro Olympics, is taking place in Manila, Philippines. There is also a big and trditional show in Montreal in Canada.

Fireworks are having their enormous effect on people from many different kinds of effects. First of all they show an incredible light effect through their different forms and colours, then there is the sound effect they create.They can bang or just sough. They can make smoke or arteficial fogs.

Normally fireworks are classified as aerial fireworks and ground fireworks. The first contains bombs (comets, palms and so on) and rockets (China rockets) and means all fireworks going up in the air and exploding there. Ground fireworks mean fireworks attached to the ground like vulcanos, fountains, or waterfalls. They had their high time while the baroque era.

The fireworks used by private people are named "tiny or littlen fireworks" or Class C in the USA while fireworks for professional use are category B and A which also contains such explosive matters like TNT.

Fireworks used in movies or theatrical productions is named stage fireworks or fireworks for special effects. Fireworks - if not exactely remarked on them - can only be sol to people who are of full age. But also for them it it always important to take care and read the instructions and mind them.

Fireworks contains many different chemicals which are mixed together in certain amounts. The most known is probably gun powder. This chemical products are filled in a shell of plastic or special card and then there is a fuze made on the firework rocket. When this is ut on fire the rocket is swirling away and the firework exploding and showing its full bunch of colours.
